MD Man, 47, Sent Sexually Explicit Texts To Child In VA: Cops
A 47-year-old Maryland man is accused of sending sexually-explicit messages to a minor earlier this year in Prince William County, authorities said. Lamar Bobby Hopkins, of Oxon Hill, MD, was an acquaintance of the victim who received the disturbing texts in February 2023, in Woodbridge, Prince William County police said. A family member found the messages and contacted police. Following the investigation, detectives obtained arrest warrants for Hopkins. A 19-year-old was shot and killed in Prince George’s County on Wednesday afternoon, April 10, police said. Carlos Hernandez-Ortiz, of Chillum, was found with gunshot wounds as officers were called to the 500 block of Chillum Road for a shooting around 12:05 p.m., the PGPD said. Police have released a composite sketch of the suspect in the recent attempted abduction of a 10-year-old girl in Montgomery County. The incident occurred around 3 p.m. Sunday, March 10 on the 18300 Block of Lost Knife Road in Gaithersburg. Two Baltimore men are facing multiple charges for possession of child pornography, state police announced Thursday, April 11. The investigation, launched by the Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit in March, led to the execution of a search warrant at the Baltimore home of Robert M. Sherer, 41, and Robert W. Police have issued an alert for a Montgomery County teen they say has been missing for more than a week. Zakur Brown, 16, was last seen near the 300 block of Flannery Lane in Silver Spring on Monday, April 1, the Montgomery County Police Department said April 10. Zakur is about 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs 120 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair styled in locs, police said. No clothing description was available.
