NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- New York Yankee legend Mariano Rivera will be among the former athletes grabbing their gloves in the name of charity when sports-talk radio station WFAN takes on a team of New Rochelle players on the softball diamond this week. WFAN will host its Fourth Annual Boomer and Carton Celebrity Softball game beginning at 6 p.m. on Aug. 6 on Field No. 1 at Flowers (City) Park, 5th Ave., New Rochelle. Dorothy Jane Kaufman, 75, Of Yonkers And Atlanta Passes Away
YONKERS, N.Y. -- Dorothy Jane Kaufman of Yonkers and Atlanta passed away on July 30 at the age of 75. Kaufman was born Nov. 7, 1939, to the late Seymour and Miriam Weiner. She worked for 32 years in the New York public school system as a counselor and Spanish teacher. Kaufman regularly volunteered her time in New York-area museums and hospitals. An avid traveler and lover of food and entertainment, Kaufman had a passion for Broadway theater and films. YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown United Methodist Church will host a rummage/tag, lunch and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 3 at its location at 2300 Crompond Rd. Derby Woman Charged With Stealing Money From Her Westport Employer
WESTPORT, Conn. -- A 31-year-old Derby woman turned herself in to the Westport Police Department on Thursday, July 30, on charges of stealing money from her Westport employer, police said. Karla Malerba surrendered to authorities after learning of an arrest warrant stemming from a larceny complaint from her employer dating to January. The local business said that Malerba stole company money over a period of time, police said. Westport Police charged her with third-degree larceny. Malerba posted $5,000 bond and is due back in court on Aug. 10.

West Haven Man Charged With Stealing iPad In Westport
WESTPORT, Conn. -- A 41-year-old West Haven man surrendered to Westport Police on Tuesday, July 28, upon learning of a warrant for his arrest over a stolen iPad, police said. The arrest of Sean Amendola stemmed from an April larceny complaint from a Westport business, police said. Store officials and police used video surveillance to identify Amendola and three other suspects stealing the iPad, police said. Amendola was charged with sixth-degree larceny and sixth-degree conspiracy to commit larceny. Amendola was held on $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 7.

SOMERS, N.Y. -- Somers High School’s peer leaders and staff invite the Class of 2019 to its annual Freshman Orientation. Rising freshman are encouraged to attend the event from 2-5 p.m. on Aug. 31 at Somers High School, 120 Primrose St., Lincolndale.
