Lifelong Firefighter From Croton-On-Hudson Dies: 'Quiet, Humble, Dedicated' A lifelong Northern Westchester resident and veteran who spent eight decades bravely serving his community as a firefighter is being remembered for his willingness to help others.  Croton-on-Hudson resident John J. Giglio, also known as "Johnny Gig," died on Monday, March 4 at the age of 96, according to his obituary.  Giglio had been an 80-year member of the Washington Engine Company No. 2 in Croton and was well-loved and immensely respected throughout those years, serving as a Lieutenant, Captain, President, and other positions. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr., announced that a 17-year-old has been arrested and arraigned after making threats to Croton-Harmon High School. The arrest was made by Croton Village Police after a tip was received on Wednesday, Sept. 4, by the school district through its “Anonymous Alerts” reporting portal.
