Peekskill Schools Release Summer Reading List

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – The city school district has released its reading list for students taking part in the Summer Reading and Writing Challenge.

Students must meet their schools’ expectations described in letters from their principals. Students should return the schools’ required evidence of reading and writing to their new teachers by Sept. 14.

Students who complete the challenge will be invited to a recognition ceremony at their schools in the first two weeks of October. The schools will notify parents of the specific dates for the ceremonies.

The Field Library, 4 Nelson Ave., is ready to help students complete the Summer Reading and Writing Challenge. The program is based on a state recommendation that students read at least 25 books from different types of literature and publish four to six forms of writing each year. The Peekskill City School District encourages families to take on this challenge and make reading and writing a daily habit.
