The committee unanimously endorsed incumbent Mayor Frank Catalina for re-election.

"We have turned the corner and finally have the city headed in the right direction," Catalina said in a statement. "The finances of the city, the total assessed valuation and previously depleted fund balance, are all looking much brighter than the day I took office."

The GOP also endorsed Tina Fischer, an independent; Brendon Fitzgerald, a Democrat; and Herbert Reyes, a member of the Independence Party, for Common Council.

Fischer comes from a strong financial background, serving in the financial department for both the city of Peekskill and currently the Village of Sleepy Hollow.

Fitzgerald is a life-long Peekskill resident who served two combat tours in the Marine Corps. He now works for Con Edison helping to plan all gas capital construction projects.

Reyes has a corporate financial background, working for companies like MTV and Nickelodeon in their International Consuemer Accounts Receivable departments. He currently works as the operations manager for the New York City transportation company, Gotham Yellow, Inc.

"We feel very fortunate to offer the citizens of Peekskill sucha diverse and exciting group of candidates," Peekskill Republican City Committee Charman Vincent. C. Vesce said in a statement. "Mayor Catalina has brought a 'yes we can' attitude back to Peekskill City Hall and has achieved great results. With Tina Fischer, Brendon Fitzgerald and Herbert Reyes, there is no doubt even greater positive changes will come faster to a city still in need."
