"Throughout her time in public service, Mary Foster has made environmental sustainability a high priority," New York League of Conservation Voters President Marcia Bystryn said in a statement. "Because of her impressive track record of accomplishment and plans for an even greener, healthier city, we are proud to endorse Mary Foster for Peekskill Mayor."

Foster is a founding member and original board officer for the Northern Westchester Energy Action Consortium and also serves as a member of the Mid-Hudson Region Sustainability Plan.

As mayor, Foster has adopted legislation that will allow commercial properties to participate in a sustainable energy loan program and is responsible for creating the Conservation Advisory Council with the aim of developing an agenda for land preservation, estuary management and waterways protection.

"I am pleased that the progress we have made in Peekskill with LEED certified new construction, reducing energy consumption, supporting sustainable development and preserving our riverfront park has been recognized by the New York League of Conservation Voters and that I have earned their endorsement," Foster said in a statement.
