Woman, 28, Killed In Head-On Crash On Route 6

A crash in which a 28-year-old motorist was killed Saturday afternoon in Orange County is under investigation by New York State Police in Haverstraw.

The crash occurred on Route 6 in Woodbury. at approximately 1:10 p.m. Saturday, March 10 when a 2017 Hyundai being operated by Loreal Maldinaldo of Ozone Park was west on Route 6 approximately a mile west of the Long Mountain Circle when it crossed the double yellow line striking an eastbound 2017 Ford Van head on, state police said.

A 2008 Chevrolet traveling west struck the van as it came to a stop in the westbound lane. The Hyundai caught fire and passersby removed the three occupants of the vehicle before the fire spread, according to police.

Maldinaldo was pronounced dead at the scene and two passengers in her vehicle, a 13-year-old female and a 21-year-old male, were transported to Westchester County Medical Center where they are both listed in critical condition.

The Van’s driver, Nickelson Moreau, 36, of Nanuet, and his passenger were taken to Orange Regional Medical Center where they were treated for minor injuries and released. Nobody in the Chevrolet was injured in the crash, police said.

Route 6 was closed for four hours and traffic was diverted to St-293, St-9W and the Palisades Interstate Parkway.
