Police responded to an altercation at approximately 10:30 a.m. on the 600 block of South Street outside a city barber shop. Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after the stabbing and the victim was taken to Hudson Valley Hospital Center in Cortlandt Manor, where he was pronounced dead.
The victim was later identified as Alexander Rochester, 23, of Peekskill who police said had recently moved to Peekskill from the Bronx.
Sunil Williams, 29, of Mount Vernon was charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing. Detectives also later charged 32-year-old Maurice Walker of Mount Vernon, who already was being held on an unrelated charge, in the slaying.
Walker, who police said had a feud with Rochester over a woman, was charged after detectives analyzed forensic and video evidence. Police said that he acted with William and that Williams stabbed Rochester multiple times.
