On Monday, New York State Police announced that on Saturday, they arrested Yorktown resident Oscar Duarte for aggravated driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest after he attempted to run away from troopers during their investigation.
According to police, on Saturday, Jan. 7, troopers from Somers made a routine traffic stop for an equipment violation. During the subsequent police investigation, it was determined that Duarte was heavily intoxicated.
While troopers were administering standardized field sobriety tests, the 28-year-old Duarte fled to a wooded area, prompting a police pursuit. Following the brief pursuit, Duarte was arrested and charged. A breath sample provided to arresting troopers revealed that Duarte had a blood alcohol content of .18 percent, more than double the legal limit.
