Police received a dispatch shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday that a pedestrian had been struck by a car on Route 35 near the Interstate 684 interchange. He had been hit by a westbound car while walking in the travel portion of the road.
Police said that a nearby doctor attempted to revive Rutigliano using CPR until paramedics arrived. Rutigliano was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Route 35 was closed off for about four hours Wednesday night while police investigated the accident. So far no charges have been filed against the driver, and the incident is still under investigation.
