Cortlandt Man Charged With Impersonating A Cop In Peekskill

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – A Cortlandt Manor man was arrested Monday after impersonating a police officer in Peekskill, according to city police.

Robert Pidgeon, 50, of Cortlandt Manor, was arrested on May 20 at 6:45 p.m. and charged with first-degree criminal impersonation of a police officer, a class E felony, and  first-degree harassment, a misdemeanor, on Welcher Avenue by Police Officer Jonathon Merritt.

Pidgeon had pulled into a shopping center parking lot and begun a verbal argument with a bystander on how a vehicle was parked in the lot, according to police. Pidgeon began to yell at others in the area at which time he displayed a silver badge and identified himself as a police officer, police said.  

Pidgeon had in his possession at the time of his arrest a silver badge issued by the Continental Village Fire Department, police said. He was taken into custody without incident and held for arraignment.

Other arrests made by Peekskill Police in the past week:

Albert Criado, 43, of Verplanck, was arrested on May 16 and charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both class B felonies, on South Street by Police Detectives Anthony Malfitano and Joseph McGann. Criado was brought back from Westchester County Jail on an outstanding warrant in conjunction with a six month narcotics investigation which also involved the Westchester County Police, police said.
