William S. Clavelin, 90, Longtime Peekskill Resident, Navy Veteran

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. - William S. Clavelin, a resident of Peekskill since 1967, died Nov. 8. He was 90.

Clavelin was born June 22, 1923. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1946. He worked for 10-years as an equipment operator for ConEdison in Greenburgh; he worked for 24-years as a correction officer at Sing Sing Correctional Facility. He was a parishioner of the Church of the Assumption in Peekskill; and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Peekskill Council 462.

Clavelin is survived by his wife, Renate Clavelin; son, Frank P. Clavelin; son-in law, Charles Gable; and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Christine Clavelin-Gable; and brother, Frank Clavelin.

Calling hours are Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.O. Curry Funeral Home, Peekskill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13 at the Assumption Church, Peekskill, followed by entombment at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley.
