Sr. Ellen Marie Mulloy, 84, Of Peekskill, Worked At St. Vincent’s Hospital

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. - Sister Ellen Marie Mulloy (Patricia Mulloy) of Peekskill died Aug. 21. She was 84.

Sr. Mulloy was born June 30, 1930, in Bayonne, N.J. She entered the Franciscan Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart and was professed in August 1960. She was assigned to the Kennedy Home in the Bronx. While there, she was sent to study at St. Joseph's Hospital in Yonkers where she received her license as an LPN. She went on for her RN at St. Vincent's Hospital on Staten Island. For the next 12 years, she was assigned to the children's Infirmary of St. Joseph's Home in Peekskill. She then worked on the Medical Surgical Unit in Beth Israel Medical Center Hospital in New York City for over 23 years. Upon retiring from nursing in 1998, she worked in the library of the St. Joseph of the Palisade School until she was asked to assist in the grammar school office.

Sr. Mulloy is survived by her sisters, Katherine and Mary; 16 nieces, nephews; and 39 grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Mary Walsh, Catherine Kelly and Josephine Schuster.

Calling hours are Friday, Aug. 22 from 2 to 7 p.m. at Mt. St. Francis in Peekskill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Aug. 23 at 11 a.m. in the Sisters' Chapel followed by interment in the Sisters' Cemetery.
