PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Nicholas J. Salvatore Jr. of Peekskill died Saturday, Jan. 12. He was 91.
He was born Jan. 16, 1921, in Buchanan to Nicholas and Mary DeCarl Salvatore. He served in the Army during World War II, attaining the rank of sergeant. On Oct. 14, 1946, Salvatore married Margaret Hickey at Assumption Church in Peekskill.
He worked for Standard Brands in Peekskill for more than 30 years in the distilling department as a blender. He was also a member of the bowling league and the quarter century club at Standard Brands.
In addition to Salvatore his wife, survivors are three children, Ronald Salvatore, of Lake Peekskill, N.Y., Nancy Salvatore, of Peekskill, and Marilyn Salvatore, of Shelton, Conn.; a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Denise Marie Salvatore; and nine siblings.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home in Peekskill. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Assumption Church. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Cortlandt Manor.
