PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Jeanette Valente, a lifelong Peekskill resident, died Oct. 30. She was 89.
Valente was born Feb. 1, 1923, in Peekskill to John and Anna Filak Forman. She graduated from Peekskill High School in 1941 and worked as a seamstress at Grossman's in Peekskill for 14 years.
On June 12, 1955, she married Raymond J. Valente at Assumption Church in Peekskill. She was a longtime communicant at Assumption Church. She also enjoyed sewing and gardening.
Valente is survived by her husband; a daughter, Maryann (Richard) Papa Sr.; two sisters-in-law, Jean and Elaine Valente; a grandson; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Helen Dahlke; and two brothers, John and Steven Forman.
Visitation was from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Dorsey-Carlone Funeral Home in Peekskill. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Assumption Church. Burial will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Cortlandt Manor.
