Francis J. 'Frank' Hughes Jr., 86, Peekskill Resident

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Francis J. "Frank" Hughes, Jr. a lifelong resident of Peekskill, died on Tuesday, Feb. 24. He was 86.

Hu was born on March 4, 1928, in Peekskill to Frank J. and Susanna Kelly Hughes.

He graduated from Peekskill High School in 1946. Soon after high school, he served in the Air Force and was honorably discharged in February, 1949. 

Prior to retiring, Hughes was a programming manager for IBM in Sterling Forest, N.Y. He was also a longtime member and past officer of the Cortlandt Yacht Club and former member of the See Boat Club in Peekskill.

Hughes is survived by three sisters and a brother: Maureen (Bud) Turner of Fort Myers, Fla.; Lorraine (Fred) Koverda of Beacon, N.Y.;Thomas (Margaret Ann) Hughes of Crompond, N.Y.' and Sue (Derek) Tudor of Garrison, N,Y, and sister-in-law Joan Hughes of Lake Mohegan.

Hughes was predeceased by two brothers, Patrick and Peter Hughes and a sister Nancy Conrad as well as by his fiancée, Anne Carroll.

Visitation is Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, 10 a.m., at the Assumption Church.

Brial will follow at Assumption Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Peekskill Fire Patrol, Peekskill Ambulance Corp. or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
