Beatrice E. Konnerth, 89, Lifelong Peekskill Resident, Kindergarten Teacher

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. - Beatrice E. Konnerth, a lifelong resident of Peekskill, died Feb. 16. She was 89.

Konnerth was born Dec. 8, 1924, in Peekskill, to Carlton Briggs Scofield and Beatrice Pierce Scofield. She graduated from Peekskill High School in 1942 and graduated from the NYU School of Education in 1946. She was a kindergarten teacher for the Hendrick Hudson Central School District for more than 35 years, retiring in 1982.

She was a member of the New York State United Teachers Union, a life member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association and served for a number of years on the Hendrick Hudson Central School District's executive committee. She served on the bicentennial committee for the Frank G. Lindsey Elementary School. She attended the United Methodist Church of Peekskill and was a member of the Van Cortlandtville Historical Society.

Konnerth is survived by her daughter, Carol A. Reif of Peekskill; several nieces and nephews; cousins; step daughter; two stepsons; and several step grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Milton J. Konnerth; former husband, Robert. W. Reif.

Calling hours are Tuesday, Feb. 18 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Joseph F. Nardone Funeral Home, Peekskill. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Cortlandt.
