BEACON, N.Y. -- When the weather turns from warm to cold, and the calendar changes from September to October, one of Beacon's most popular ice cream joints does its own Cinderella act.

Well, kind of. Beacon Creamery doesn't turn into a pumpkin, but it does turn into a Christmas ornament shop.

And not just any ornaments.

Kringle's Christmas House owner Ron Iarossi specializes in unique and high end ornaments (and fun ornaments) from around the world, as well as from his own back yard - with one of the store's popular items being an ornament with a wreath and a likeness of the Beacon Incline Railroad.

Kringle's also features ornaments from Russia, Poland, Germany, Italy and Egypt, as well as domestic made pieces.

"Right now we're all about the holidays," Iarossi told Daily Voice. "Even our ice cream - we have holiday flavors."

The first few years Iarossi transformed Beacon Creamery into a Christmas store (which he started doing four years ago) he didn't' include the ice cream. But customers soon let him know that needed to change, and he's been continuing ice cream sales right through the winter ever since.

"We've been doing it for 24 years now," Iarossi said of running the shops. "We used to have two shops, but that got to be a bit much, so this makes more sense.

"Shopping here is casual, not rushed," he added. "We do candle light nights on Fridays, with refreshments - it's a nice atmosphere - and we'll have a 'Christmas Morning' style event - where we'll have breakfast foods discounts, etc."

Kringle's Christmas House is located at 163 Main Street in Beacon, and the shop is open until December 31. You can also find them on Facebook.
