Peekskill's Lincoln Depot Museum Holding Lincoln Remembrance Weekend

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – The Lincoln Depot Museum is holding a Lincoln Remembrance Weekend April 25 and 26 from 1-4 p.m. each day.

The event, held in partnership with the Lincoln Society in Peekskill organization, will display an exact replica of President Abraham Lincoln’s coffin courtesy of the Batesville Casket Co. in Indiana, the same company that created the original. Attendees can pay respects to the murdered President and sign the “Book of Condolences.” Each day will feature a guest speaker starting at 2:30 p.m.

On Saturday, April 25, Jamie Malanowski, will speak on “Lincoln As Hero And Myth.” Malanowski is the author of “And the War Came: Six Months That Tore America Apart” and “Abraham Lincoln, Outlaw Hero.” He is also a writer for Vanity Fair, The New Yorker and The Washington Monthly. 

On Sunday, April 26, John Muranelli will present, “The Murder Plot To Kill Lincoln.” Muranelli is an expert and researcher on Ford’s Theater, the conspirators and the manhunt for John Wilkes Booth.

Lincoln Depot Museum’s exhibition, “Lincoln and New York: The Indispensable Relationship” will also be on view.

Admission is $5 per person; children 5 and under and museum members are free.
