PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- A band on the rise is ready to rock Peekskill on Sunday, Sept. 7.
7Horse will be opening for the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at Paramount Hudson Valley at 1008 Brown St. in Peekskill.
The band recently released its second album "Song For A Voodoo Wedding." 7Horse's song "Meth Lab Zoso Sticker" was featured in "The Wolf of Wall Street" and on the drama "Hart of Dixie."
"Meth Lab Zoso Sticker" was also selected for a mashup single by rapper Method Man.
7Horse formed in 2011, though band members have been playing together for 20 years. Phil Leavitt, drummer and lead vocalist, was in the band Dada, which had the hit single "Dizz Knee Land."
Their new album is about spending a week in New Orleans.
"New Orleans is a great city," Leavitt said. "We were soaking up the culture and having excellent cocktails. A lot of that found its way onto the new record."
Leavitt said they perform a high energy rock 'n' roll show that recalls the early days of the Rolling Stones.
"People are really going to enjoy it," Leavitt said. "We are looking forward to getting out there. I don't think we've played Westchester before."
Being on "The Wolf of Wall Street" soundtrack opened up numerous opportunities for the band.
"It was a huge feather in our cap," Leavitt said. "It changed the whole landscape. It's been a real boost."
Leavitt said he loved the movie and thought star Leonardo DiCaprio should've won the Oscar for Best Actor.
"It's one of Scorcese's classics," Leavitt said. "I brought my whole family to see it on Christmas. When the song hit we all got a big charge. We loved seeing our name in the ending credits."
Leavitt said they make people feel good about being bad.
"We embrace the dark side," Leavitt said. "We tell tales of the drunk, stoned, reckless and the sexually depraved. We're all about the fun side of life. We all have serious issues we have to deal with, but we want people to come to the show and forget all about their problems."
