PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- While one bid to take over the operations of the Paramount Center For The Arts in Peekskill came from a well-known Westchester group, the other two will remain somewhat a mystery until Feb. 13.

Three groups have submitted bids to take over the Paramount, which closed on Oct. 3 due to financial problems. One bid came from the owners of the Tarrytown Music Hall and the other two came from apparently unknown groups, The Paramount Phoenix Group and Red House Entertainment. Online web searches found no information on either group.

Bjorn Olsson, Executive Director with the Tarrytown Music Hall issued the following statement, Wednesday, "Let's be clear about the fact that the ownership is not changing. The City of Peekskill will continue to own the theater, the question is who will be operating it. We would operate both theaters. We would want to open as quickly as possible, but we may be looking at the fall season at this point"

Peekskill City Spokesperson Bob Knight said the groups would introduce themselves on Feb. 13, when the city hears the three presentations at a special public work session.

"We're going to let the groups tell the public and the media about themselves," Knight said.

The city has not determined a location for the meeting since a larger than usual attendance is expected and the upstairs Common Council chambers will be in use that night. The meeting will be televised for the city's public access channel, Knight said.

The city would likely enter into an agreement with one of the groups soon after the presentations if the the council is pleased with one of the bids, he added. The council could vote on a contract at the Feb. 25 meeting, which Knight said could also be held earlier to speed up the process.
