PEEKSKILL, N.Y. Peekskill High School class of 2012 Valedictorian Jennifer Asucena Galego Tenesaca was among those that spoke at Sunday's graduation ceremony.
Jennifer and her twin sister, Salutatorian Jenesis Tenesaca, have received the top academic honors at Peekskill High School this year. The two students grade point averages are separated by only 0.31 points.
Jennifer and Jenesis Tenesaca are the only children of Angel and Maria Gallego. They both attended the Peekskill City School District all the way through, performing at the top of their class throughout high school.
Both girls were elected to the National Honor Society in their junior year and have pursued a strong interest in science, with both participating in Peekskills Authentic Science Research program for the past three years.
Jennifer is interested in math, art and engineering, and will be pursuing those interests at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute next fall with the intention at this point of majoring in general engineering.
