The student saw “Eclipsed,” a play that stars Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o as a woman held captive by rebels during the Liberian civil war.
The students took the train into the city where they had lunch in Bryant Park and visited the New York Public Library before heading off to the theater.
The grant came from the Broadway Alliance.
Summit Academy is an alternative learning program for high school students and is based at the Uriah Hill School.
