Lewisboro Police Conduct Manhunts

LEWISBORO, N.Y. – Lewisboro Police reported a number of manhunts this week. When a patient left Cross River's North Winds Hospital without authorization on Sunday, Lewisboro Police searched the area, to no avail. About an hour later, they were informed by Pound Ridge Police of a suspicious person walking south on Route 121. Lewisboro police interviewed a witness, who identified the missing man from a photograph. Shortly afterwards, another report of a suspicious person came from Pound Ridge’s Honey Hollow Road. Lewisboro Police found the patient on Honey Hollow and returned him to the hospital without incident.

Lewisboro Police also reported the following incidents:

On May 27, a vehicle on Ridgefield’s Main Street was damaged in a hit-and-run incident. The victim pursued the offender onto South Salem’s Smith Ridge Road (Route 123), notifying Lewisboro Police as she drove. With Lewisboro Police in pursuit, the alleged offender crossed into New Canaan. New Canaan Police were notified and the pursued driver was halted. The case was handed over to Connecticut authorities.
The manager of the Goldens Bridge A&P was confronted and threatened by a relative of an employee on May 27. The employee explained to police that the threats were groundless and said her relative is unstable. After consulting with the family, Lewisboro Police located the offender and warned him that if he returned to the A&P he would be arrested for trespassing.
A man in a motorized wheelchair was traveling south in the northbound lane of Smith Ridge Road when Lewisboro Police stopped to question him. He explained that the chair was new, and he was on his way to the Vista Pharmacy. After informing the man that it is illegal to drive a wheelchair in the road, police transported the man to the pharmacy and then returned him, and his chair, back home.
An officer patrolling Route 35 on May 30 noticed a car pull out of the Town Park onto Route 35 without using a directional signal. When the officer stopped the auto he detected a strong aroma of burnt marijuana. The driver admitted to having some marijuana and a grinder. The apparatus was confiscated and the driver received appearance tickets for unlawful possession of marijuana and failure to signal.
A John Jay student who had left her laptop in the Gallery hallway during the last half of the eighth period on May 29 discovered it was gone when she returned. Police were notified. School personnel said nothing had been turned in.
