The City of Peekskill Police said it is working with the Westchester County District Attorney's Office to determine the speed of the vehicle when it crashed into the car on Hudson Avenue, said Lt. John White.

A 71-year-old man and a 2-year-old boy remain in critical condition, White added.

The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Hudson Avenue near Smith and Washington streets, where just moments earlier a state trooper had pulled over another vehicle at the scene of the crash.

In addition to the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, Peekskill Police were assisted at the scene by the New York State Police and the Westchester County Department of Public Safety. The Peekskill Fire Department and Peekskill EMS responded and rendered aid to the victims.
