A Dutchess County man is behind bars after receiving his third DWI in two years.

New York State Police troopers on patrol in East Fishkill stopped 39-year-old Fishkill resident Patrick A. Pierre-Saint on Route 376 on Wednesday after spotting him committing several vehicle and traffic violations.

During the stop, troopers said that Pierre-Saint “demonstrated obvious signs of impairment, and had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage.” It was determined that he was operating his vehicle while intoxicated, with a license that is currently suspended stemming back to a previous DWI arrest when he refused to submit to a chemical test.

Pierre-Saint was arrested and charged with felony counts of driving while intoxicated with a previous conviction within 10 years and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was also charged with using a vehicle without an interlock device and reckless driving, both misdemeanors. Pierre-Saint was also cited for multiple vehicle and traffic violations.

Pierre-Saint had a previous DWI conviction in 1995. Last year he pleaded guilty to felony drunk driving and was sentenced to a term of between one and three years in prison .

Following arraignment, Pierre-Saint was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail without bail. He is due back in the East Fishkill Justice Court later this year to answer the charges against him.
