A Beacon man is behind bars after being charged with a host of domestic violence charges including assaulting and strangling the victim, according to the New York State Police.

Daniel J. Statini, 27, was arrested Monday, Jan. 8, for a domestic dispute that took place on Jan. 3, on Glenwood Drive in Beacon, said Trooper AJ Hicks.

An investigation into the event revealed that Statini stole $120, assaulted, strangled, and unlawfully imprisoned the victim at his residence, Hicks said.

Statini also took the victim's cell phone to prevent them from calling for help.

He was charged with felony robbery, felony strangulation, felony assault, unlawful imprisonment and criminal mischief, Hicks said.

Statini was arraigned before the town of Fishkill Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear before the court on Feb. 13.
