Elizabeth A. 'Bette' Baumgardner, 85, Peekskill Native

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. -- Peekskill native Elizabeth A. "Bette" Baumgardner passed away after a battle with  bronchiectasis on Monday, Dec. 1. She was 85.

Baumgardner was born in Peekskill on March 21, 1929. She is the infant held by a nurse in posters commemorating Peekskill Day.

She spent time living in both Peekskill and Shrub Oak and graduated from Peekskill High School in 1947. 

Baumgardner relocated to Washington, D.C., in 1948 and worked in the Navy Security Agency. After another stop in Illinois, Baumgardner moved to Florida and hosted a cable talk show called "A Women's World."

Baumgardner is survived by four children, Jeffrey Augustine and wife Patricia; Ronald Augustine and wife Jill; Bradley Augustine; and Melissa Augustine; and five grandchildren, Lisa Beth, David, Emma, Scott and Kevin. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
