Notably, Scarsdale schools had the highest average salary in the state, at $121,000, and Yonkers had the third highest average salary statewide, at $103,000, the report said.

On average, districts in New York also had 12,000 fewer employees between the 2008-09 and 2012-13 school years, data reportedly showed.  But during the five-year period, statewide school employees earning more than $100,000 grew from 32,505 to 45,627, the report said.

Lisa Davis, executive director of the Westchester-Putnam School Boards Association, reportedly told Press Connects that the salaries in the Hudson Valley are indicative of the high cost of living in the region.

Still, data shows that the number of New York State teachers and administrators earning more than $100,000 annually has climbed 40 percent over the last five years, despite retirements and layoffs, Press Connects reported.

Coming in behind Westchester with the second highest statewide average school salary was Putnam County with $80,000, followed by Nassau, Suffolk and Rockland counties at $71,000, the report said.  The lowest average salary in the state was in Schuyler County, located around the Finger Lakes, at nearly $23,000, according to Press Connects.
