The longtime councilwoman, and her family, have been at the center of a storm over a grant they received to fix up a house on Fremont Street, according to theexaminernews.com.

Saying it was an unfortunate oversight on the agency’s part, one of the directors of The Preservation Company, told theexaminernews.com that Claxton should have been made aware that, as an elected official, she needed a waiver to apply for funding, but was not.
