Cops Name Peekskill Man as 2nd Suspect in White Plains Shooting

Update: On Tuesday, Public Safety Commissioner David Chong released a more up-to-date photo of suspect Dominique Hospie.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Police have released the name of a second suspect wanted  in connection with Friday's Delfino Park shooting.

Public Safety Commissioner David Chong said he urges Dominique Hospie, 18, of Peekskill, to turn himself in and answer questions about the three shots that were fired Friday afternoon. Juan Gell of Lake Street was arrested Saturday and charged in the shooting.

"You know we have visited your family, friends and known places where you go. It's only a matter of time before we find you," Chong wrote in an email. "My advice to you is to turn yourself in and tell your side of the story. We are actively looking for you and we will find you."

Police said they anticipate charging Hospie, whose father lives on Lake Street, with three felonies: first-degree assault, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and second-degree criminal use of a firearm.

White Plains officers began receiving calls about shots fired behind a Lake Street building around 4 p.m. Friday. The victim, a teenage boy, was rushed to the Westchester Medical Center with three bullet wounds. His condition was downgraded from critical to serious but stable by Sunday evening, indicating that he was expected to survive.

Witnesses have credited officers' quick response, especially Michael Dawson, who tied a tourniquet around the victim's leg, with helping save the young man's life, according to Chong.

By early Saturday morning, police had arrested Gell, 18, who lives on Lakes Street in White Plains. Officers have charged Gell with first-degree assault, 2nd-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and 2nd-degree criminal use of a firearm or loaded weapon. All three charges are felonies.
