This is an annual honor to one who has shown exemplary service to the Church of the Assumption and has given back to the Peekskill community in general.
DiPierro emigrated from Italy at the age of 14. Avid Church of the Assumption parishioners, he and his wife Marie Bertoline have devoted hundreds of hours in volunteer time to the church.
They were married, baptized their children and raised them within the Assumption Church community. All three of their sons attended Assumption School.
He is a life member of the Elks Club and a Paul Harris Fellow recipient from the Peekskill Rotary Club as well as being a Rotarian himself.
DiPierro has also served with the Columbia Hose Fire Company since 1959 and the Cortlandt Hook and Ladder Fire Company since 1971.
He will be honored at the Italian Heritage Gala Ball on Nov. 23 at the Harbor at Charles Point, at 5 John Walsh Blvd., Peekskill.
