To the editor:

As many people know, downtown Peekskill can be a fun place to dine or visit an art gallery.

Today, I was visiting my favorite tea shop on Main Street with a friend. We found that the new parking meters on Main Street were a bit suspect when coins didn't work, we moved to another meter and used a credit card. As extra insurance, I took a photo of the meter to prove my payment.

Sure enough! I returned to the car and I had a ticket on my windshield which was issued 20 minutes prior to the expiration time.

Needless to say, I was livid and then immediately proceeded to the police station to seek a remedy.

No one seemed to show any interest in our dilemma, the police officer retrieved the person responsible for the parking violations who promptly refused to speak with us.

At this point, I was very upset and once I returned home, I submitted a complaint to the Peekskill Police Department online.

To my surprise, I received a call immediately from Mr. Eric Johansen, chief of police. Not only did Mr. Johansen speak with us with respect, he drove to my house to hear of the circumstances regarding my complaint.

He not only dismissed the ticket but he also apologized.

Thank you,  Mr. Johansen, for treating us with respect and courtesy!

We appreciate Mr. Johansen taking his time and taking the matter seriously.
