The masterclass will be on the works of Mozart, Bach, Chopin and more. Sampietro will lecture on three cycles of music -- Baroque, Rococo and Romantic -- and play excerpts from his CD, "Bach-Sampietro Transcendental Studies."

The program is free, and refreshments will be provided.

Sampietro was born in northern Italy in 1935 and began playing piano at age six. After graduating from the Mozarteum University of Salzburg,, he made his debuts in Salzburg, Vienna and Santa Cecilia in Rome before playing to great acclaim in 15 nations around the globe.

His concerts have raised thousands of dollars for children, the Italian Red Cross, UNICEF, handicapped families, Doctors Without Borders, university scholarships, medical research and church charities.

Sampietro's philanthropy attracted the attention of Pope Benedict XVI, and in 2007, he performed Bach and Mozart in a memorable private concert at the Vatican.

The program will be from 6 - 8 p.m. For additional information, call the library at (914) 737-1212.

The Field Library is at 4 Nelson Ave, Peekskill.
