The busy day-before-Thanksgiving getaway will include rain and showers for the tristate region for the first half of the day, but skies will clear in plenty of time for Turkey Day.

The greatest impact will be to motorists.

Wet road surfaces and blowing spray may require lower speeds.

"The combination of rain and a low cloud ceiling may also be enough to lead to airline delays in Boston and perhaps New York City for a time on Wednesday," AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams said.

Heavy rain is mostly likely to occur in southeastern New England and eastern Long Island.

The showers and rain should wind down between noon and early Wednesday afternoon with gradual clearing and a high temperature in the low-50s.

Thanksgiving Day will be sunny and colder with a high in the low-40s and wind-chill values between 25 and 35.

Black Friday will see sunny skies once again with high temperatures in the mid-40s.
