Why not, instead of chipping up the bigger logs, sell them to help the town bring in additional revenues? If I remember correctly, they give away mulch, which is nice, but the town needs money. Why not pick up the bigger logs off people's property and have it chopped up and sell it to residents for fire wood? View Comment
It actually has not been 3 years since the business moved. And for those of us who have lived here for over 30 years, that is the least of the problems. The roads that need to be paved never seem to get paved, but the ones that don't need to be paved are repaved over and over again. The exit onto East Main on the left side of the building has been the site of many near accidents. I, myself, end up having close calls every day. Why don't they close that?! View Comment
I'm not too thrilled about the fact that I have to pay MORE money if my child decides that they do not want to take a fruit for their lunch because they don't like what they are offering. If my child chooses to not waste food, why should I have to pay more money??!!! The food the school offers does not appeal to every child, hence why participation is down. Most of these kids eat healthy meals at home that may include some of the same foods offered in school. We need to change it up and make lunch time fun for them with some new foods for them to try. I've had a few comments on my FaceBook page regarding this. One great idea was Laser Tag. There's more than enough room in the space for creativity in design, and it would be something for all ages, not just young kids and not just adults. It's something that everyone in the community could do and would keep kids off the streets and would be a place that everyone could go to have fun - even families could go there to do something fun together! We've got enough grocery stores around here. We don't need any more. We need something for the kids and teens to do to keep them out of hanging out in gas station parking lots. A combination roller skating rink / ice rink would be cool. Maybe a movie theater like the one up in the South Hills Mall that is extremely cheap and shows older movies. No more big retail chain stores. Our sense of community needs to stay intact. We need to help support our local small business owners. The town could buy the building from the A&P and it could be used for an indoor flea market. Or, even better, tear it down and create a community garden with a couple benches and a fountain. Something peaceful. There are so many better ideas than more grocery stores and retail stores. Think small and local, not big and corporate. View Comment
There is a Carvel at the end of Westbrook Drive and one across the street from the J.V. Mall. We don't need another Carvel and the ones that are already around are fine where they are. View Comment
I'd like to see a roller rink or arcade. We need more things for children and teens to do, besides just going to the movie theater or hanging out at the mall or in gas station parking lots. We've got more than enough nail salons, delis, and pizzerias in the area. I don't think we need any more, especially since there are both a Domino's and a Pizza Hut in either direction from the area, a pizzeria right next to the movie theater, a pizzeria at the end of Westbrook Drive, one right across the street from Shoprite, and one in Miranda Plaza next to Shell on Oregon Road. That's 6 within a 2 mile radius! There's 3 alone in Shrub Oak! View Comment
