I think that this is way out of hand.I had the same thing happen with medication. My eyesight isn't as good as it use to be,and I had mistaken one pill for another.I went out to my appointment and started to not feel well and went home.I'm sure I'm not the only one.The medication Kerry Kennedy took can take effect pretty fast, and If taken unknown before driving can cause Amnesia,or a drunk like effect.I'm glad no one was hurt.I believe her. I do not see where congratulations for putting a young man,who is a ''Addict''behind bars for 40 years is appropriate. I believe that the Judge is trying to make an example of him because of the growth of Heroin use in our area. Overkill. No pat on the back from me. Slap in the head is more like it. He has now taken a life, legally.DeMicheli does have to pay for his crimes.Murderers do not get sentences like this. View Comment
Drug addiction crosses all boundries. It doesnt discriminate.A bad decision on one day,can become an addiction the next.I thinks its insulting to the parents of these deceased young men to think that they didnt do enough.Once a child turns 18 theres not much that can be done unless that child WANTS help.If the child is lucky enough to get to that point in there addiction where they want help, its a lifelong process. My heart goes out to these recent good families that lost their children. I grew up less then a mile from Con Ed.We played in the woods there almost everday. We rode motorcycles in the woods and everything else. One thing I am sure of is this, there is no evacuation plan that will work. Its not possible to get everyone out safe in a timely manor. Those who think that evacuation is possible are insane. Because its always been done that way is not a reason to keep it that way.The area is not the same as it was.People that use to live there, have passed away or moved away. The extended families that raised their children there have gone to more affordable areas.I was born and raised in Buchanan and my children were raised there for some years. It use to be a nice place. When I ride down that area now,its become dumpy.Plenty has changed.
There are enough parks and quiet streets to use during the day for health benefits.Obviously, the ones who do use the track are rare, because looking around the area there I see few interested in keeping fit.
Keeping children safe is the number one priority.Unfortunately we dont live in Mayberry anymore. View Comment
I was curious to know where the drug free zone is? Does a drug free zone actually exsist? The methadone clinic has been providing services in this area for over 20 years, but it seems most of the population in Peekskill didnt know this. Why are citizens of Peekskill concerned now?Why not last year or the year before? There are services provided for active addicts everyday at the Peekskill area health center. What makes this so different?Addiction is everywhere. There is a great need for these services to continue in this area.If there are 250 people getting treatment then why isnt everyone concerned about all the others who are not getting treatment? They are the majority out there.
