There will be several roadways closed for a stretch of time in Yorktown on Thanksgiving morning as the town prepares for the town’s inaugural Turkey Trot Road Race.

The Turkey Trot Road Race is scheduled to kick off at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Thursday morning, which will lead to several road closures, according to Yorktown Police Chief Robert Noble.

The inaugural race, which is sponsored by Sen. Terrence Murphy, will start and end on Front Street, in front of the Pennysaver building. Runners will take off from Front Street to Underhill Avenue, to Route 118. They will then segue on Old Country Way, making a U-Turn and returning back to the Pennysaver building.

Noble said that in order to ensure the safety of the runners and spectators, the following roadways will be closed from approximately 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. when the race is expected to conclude:

  • Front Street,
  • Moseman Avenue between Summit Street and Front Street,
  • Underhill Avenue between Summit Street and Route 118,
  • Route 118 between Underhill Avenue and Route 129.
