The east-bound storm system that brought light snow and squalls to the Hudson Valley on Saturday arrived around 3 p.m. and led to numerous vehicle crashes on slick roadways in the area.

A crash on westbound I-287, reported at 5:15 p.m., initially blocked the right lane at the Hutchinson River Parkway (Exit 9).

A 6:30 p.m. crash on the northbound Saw Mill River Parkway took out the right lane, causing stop-and-go delays at Route 117 (Exit 39), with traffic backed up to Green Lane.

A southbound I-684 crash, reported just before 5 p.m., blocked the right lane at Hardscrabble Road, with traffic backed up to I-84 (Exit 9).

Farther south on I-684, a crash on the northbound side initially blocked the left lane and caused stop-and-go delays at Route 35 (Exit 6) in Katonah with the backups to Exit 5 (Saw Mill River Parkway).

Snowfall first arrived in areas farthest west, including Rockland, where multiple crashes occurred on the Palisades Interstate Parkway between Exit 16 (Lake Welch Drive) and Exit 18 (Route 6) through 4:30 p.m.

There was also a crash on I-87 on the Orange/Rockland line that occurred on the northbound side around 4:10 p.m.
