Officials were forced to close the 600 Block of Main Street in Peekskill due to the wires, which presented a hazard to motorists and pedestrians. Crews have since come in to clean up the wires, and the roadway has been reopened to the public.

Although more than 25,000 Con Edison customers remain without power in Westchester County, just 302 of them are in Peekskill, with an estimated time of restoration at 11 p.m. on Friday. Officials noted that those without power can visit the Peekskill Library, which will be open until 10 p.m. on Thursday as a warming and charging center.
