The team, made up of 150 swimmers, went 5-0 in Division 1 in the Northern Westchester Swim Conference, finishing second in the championships on Saturday.

"The season was very special," Coach Margit Cooley said.

When Cooley started five years ago, the team was down to 80 swimmers and about to be relegated to Division II. Cooley spent her first season looking to fix the problems that had fixed the team.

The team started turning itself around, notching consecutive third place finishes as Cooley added more swimmers and assistant coaches.

"I try to keep it fun and make sure it's not too much pressure," Cooley said. "It started to work and we got bigger and bigger."

This season, Cooley said the team has been more like a family as they quickly bonded over the seven week season with Nicholas Rabadi and Evan Nikolic standing out. Rabadi swam the 100 yards in 49:87 seconds, while Nikolic swam the 50-yard butterfly in 25:30 seconds. Cooley said she always tries to keep things positive and make sure she's always teaching.

Though the season just ended, Cooley said she is already looking forward to next year.

"We will probably be a stronger team," Cooley said. "I could see the hunger for winning starting to grow. The seven weeks went by so fast."
