Westchester Achilles Race for Rehab Sunday

VALHALLA, NY -- The Annual Achilles International of Westchester Race for Rehab will be held this weekend at the New York Medical College in Valhalla.

The races will take place Sunday at the medical education building. The 10K race will begin at 9:30 and the 5K race will start at 10 a.m.

The Department of Physical Therapy in the School of Health Sciences and Practice at New York Medical College coordinates the annual fundraising event to support Achilles International. Achilles is a worldwide non-profit organization with more than 3,000 members in the New York City metropolitan area. There are also members in 46 cities nationwide and more than 70 countries.

The group's goals include developing athletic programs for children with disabilities, fostering relationships between disabled and able-bodied runners, and creating international chapters for its athletes.

It is $25 to register and can be done on race day from 8 to 9 a.m.

Medals will be awarded to first, second and third place in each age category. All participants will be provided with commemorative T-shirts. Participants, friends and family will also have the opportunity to win prizes being raffled off on race day.
