Breaking News: Showers, Storms For First Saturday Of Summer

Peekskill Football Looks For First Win Of Season

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – The Peekskill High School football team faces an uphill battle for its first win of the season when it hosts Port Chester at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Red Devils’ first home game.

The Red Devils are 0-3 this season and have struggled mightily so far. Peekskill has scored just 12 points in three games and suffered a 42-0 shutout at the hands of Hackley in week two.

Peekskill is coming off a 21-6 loss to Saunders in which the lone bright spot for the Red Devils was a 67-yard touchdown pass from Ayo Jegede to Ramon Searight. The Red Devils also struggled on defense, as they surrendered 148 yards to Saunders’ Francisco Wilson-King and 118 yards to quarterback Kristian Prenga.

But Port Chester is coming off its first loss of the season, a 21-0 shutout by Brewster. The Rams get a break with winless Peekskill and will look to bounce back from the ugly loss.

The Rams have won each of their games this season by thin margins, and defense has led the way. Port Chester defeated Spring Valley in its opener, 14-12, and then edged Byram Hills, 21-20, in perhaps one of the wildest high school football games in Westchester in recent memory.

Port Chester will likely prove to be too much for Peekskill, which has struggled against teams worse than the Rams and been dominated by teams at or above Port Chester’s caliber.
