PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Former Peekskill High School and Duke University standout Elton Brand returned home for his annual basketball clinic Saturday.

Brand helped Peekskill High School basketball coach Lou Panzanaro and his staff lead area youngsters through a series of drills and fitness exercises. The event has been held for the past nine years with Brand's help.

Brand attended Duke University after graduating from Peekskill High in 1997 before being drafted No. 1 by the NBA's Chicago Bulls. He later played for the Los Angeles Clippers for seven seasons and just finished his fourth season with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Brand was released by Philadelphia on July 6 after helping the team make the NBA playoffs last season, but was picked up by the Dallas Mavericks soon afterward.
