The proposed charter school would open in Assumption Catholic School, which closed last year, according to the report.

Under the plan, Guardian Academy would be scheduled to open in August 2015 and provide services for kindergarten and first grade, according to the report.

The opening of the school would also increase enrollment from 200 to 400 by year five to serve students up to seventh grade, according to the report.

Many of the speakers at the event last week addressed that the charter school would drain the school's resources, according to the report.
