The $161.2 million budget increases spending .5 percent, with a tax levy increase of .5 percent, within the state's tax cap on the tax levy.

Yorktown residents will see taxes increase 2.5 percent, Cortlandt residents will see  taxes decrease 1.7 percent, Somers residents will see taxes increase .6 percent. Lakeland also covers three municipalities in Putnam County.

Denise Ness, Glen Malia and Rachelle Nardelli were elected to the school board with 759, 715 and 688 votes, respectively.

Michael Cherchia had 616 votes while Scott Carey had 574 votes.

"We want to thank the community for their support," Superintendent Dr. George Stone said. "We want to thank the candidates that wanted to participate and work for the school district. I look forward to a great year."

Stone said he believes voters recognized the district did everything it could to keep increases as low as possible.

"Voters recognized we did a responsible job with budgeting," Stone said. "They were happy to support us. I am very pleased with the outcome."
