Hendrick Hudson School District Budget Passes

CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- Voters in the Hendrick Hudson School District overwhelmingly approved the district's 2015-2016 budget Tuesday.

The budget was approved 580 votes to 154 votes. The bus proposition was approved 562 votes to 168 votes.

Trustees Mary-Pat Briggi and Laurie Ryan ran unopposed for another term on the Board of Education.

The proposed budget is $74.4 million, a 1.4 percent increase from the approved budget for 2014-15.

The estimated tax rate increase is .02 percent for Cortlandt residents of the school district, and .1 percent for Peekskill residents of the school district.

"I am impressed and encouraged by the overwhelming support of this budget," Superintendent Joseph Hochreiter said in a statement. "I applaud the Board and staff for finding innovative ways to tighten the belt and find efficiencies in order to balance our instructional needs in a cost-effective way.”

The library's budget was approved 576 votes to 139 votes.
