PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Fox News personality and one-time Miss America Gretchen Carlson plans to speak about her television career to Peekskill’s Oakside Elementary School students in June.
Carlson, 48, is host of “The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson.”
She won the 1989 Miss America pageant, and is a board member for that organization. She is also a board member of the March of Dimes, which honored her with its esteemed Volunteer of the Year President’s Award in 2010.
Carlson also has embarked on an acting career. She had a role in the feature film “Persecuted,” which was released in July 2014. Carlson will also appear in the upcoming feature film “Caged.”
Her biography, “Getting Real,” will be released June 16 – eight days after her scheduled appearance in Peekskill.
Carlson, an honors graduate of Stanford University in California, also studied at Oxford University in England.
She and her husband, Casey Close, have two children and teach Sunday school.
