Candidates Maria Pereira, Adriana Ariza, Jillian Clausen, Shannon Casiano and incumbent Michael Simpkins answered several questions from an audience of several dozen city residents at the district administration building. The sixth candidate, Rolv (Nick) Nicolaysen, was unable to attend.
Simpkins is seeking another term while current trustees Lisbeth Bock and Tuesday McDonald are not seeking another term.
The candidates gave brief introductions and then answered questions about several issues including charter schools, budget and faculty issues, gifted programs and online education.
The Peekskill Daily Voice will have profiles of each candidate later this week, and the complete candidate forum will run on the district's cable channel before the May 21 election.
