Chato’s Kitchen Gets Cooking At Hendrick Hudson High School

MONTROSE, N.Y. -- Hendrick Hudson High School students will perform "Dinner in Chato's Kitchen," based on the Gary Soto book, "Chato's Kitchen," for first and second graders from Furnace Woods Elementary School on Tuesday, Feb. 9.

The puppet show, about making friends and building community, gets underway at 11:45 a.m. in the high school auditorium, and there is plenty of room for the community to join the fun.

The show will be followed by a short live skit expanding on the themes of the show and involving audience participation.

The original play was funded by a Hendrick Hudson Community Educational Foundation grant two years ago, and the project just keeps on going and growing, thanks to a dedicated group of high school puppet volunteers.

A second date of Feb. 11 at 9:45 a.m. for Buchanan-Verplanck Elementary School first and second graders will also be open to the public.
